        Advanced Geography I

        This course will be taught in the SDL format. This course encourages students to think about the specific contribution that they can make to understanding contemporary issues and also the complexity of natural systems, their linkages and impact upon humans. Students are also shown that it is equally important to understand the impacts of man upon the environment and how these impacts can be managed in achieving sustainable development. The study of environments is rooted in an understanding of physical processes, so this course emphasizes studying real examples to show the variety and complexity of human and physical environments. Students in this course will enter for one AS Level paper on a range of compulsory human and physical geography topics.

        Advanced History III give students the opportunity to study the past and develop an understanding of complex historical events and processes from the perspective of a variety of nations and their relationships to others. 

        This class focuses on the key developments that shaped the international order after 1945. The themes explored will allow students to examine the forces that shaped the international order after 1945, explain how the themes are inter-connected, explain the complexities of the international relationships, and understand the making of the multi-polar world. 

        Students in this course will sit the Cambridge exam for both AS and A level.

        The aim of this course is to encourage students to think about and explore issues of global significance. It offers student the opportunities to acquire, develop and apply skills in critical thinking, problem solving, research, communication and collaboration. Through well-defined stages call the Critical Path, students will be encouraged to apply a logical approach to thinking and reasoning. Following this path they will be able to analyze the structure and context of arguments, assess the impact and limitations of evidence and make well-reasoned judgments.

        Historical Conflicts and Resolutions

        The focus of this course will be on conflicts that have occurred in various parts of the world and their historical significance. Students will focus on the Russian, French and American Revolutions considering their causes, course of events and outcomes. They will gain an understanding of the different ideologies associated with these events and how they carry through into contemporary issues. Primary and secondary sources will be used throughout the course with an emphasis on document based questions.

        Advanced International Relations 1

        This AS course focuses on International Relations between countries starting in the late 19th century focusing on the expansion of imperialism and nationalism. It moves into focusing on the causes and consequences of WWI leading into WWII. The international aspect of the course includes content beyond European involvement in these themes and conflicts. Students are challenged in this course to find connections between concepts and critically consider the historical significance of topics covered. In preparation for the AS Cambridge exam students will focus on formulating responses to document based questions examining both primary and secondary sources.
